The ticket price is £50 which includes free camping, Saturday night entertainment, air (to 3000psi) and co2 refills plus entry to the big game itself.

Air refills to 4500psi will be available. However, in accordance with UKPSF guidelines 4500psi fills will be witnessed by a Shoreline Paintball representative. The cost associated to compliance with best practise guidelines means that a nominal charge of £2 will be payable for 4500psi refills. 4500psi refill tickets will be available for purchase at the registration booth at the event and a ticket will allow you access to the 4500psi fill stations all weekend.

Bookings will close on Sunday 14th of September at noon. Any players not booked in by this date will not be guaranteed a ticket.

Players who do not pre-book and who turn up on the day should expect a substantially increased ticket price.

Q: What is this all about?

This event is a themed paintball event with the goodies and baddies from Staargate and Staar Trek battling each other for supremacy. The event spans the entire weekend with games and shows taking place on the Saturday followed by a party on the Saturday night. The game itself takes place on the Sunday.

Q: When, where and why?

Firstly, WHEN The weekend of 20th/21st September 2008.
Secondly, WHERE The event is held at the excellent Powerplay Paintball Site near Wakefield.
Lastly, WHY er. it's a good question. Why would hundreds of people from all over the UK (and others from the USA and mainland Europe) travel to the countryside surrounding Wakefield and shoot each other? That's paintball I guess!

Q: How do I get there?

From the North, take the M1 south towards Sheffield and leave the motorway at junction 38.
From the South, take the M1 north towards Leeds and again leave at junction 38.
After leaving the motorway, follow the signs for Woolley Edge. Pass under the railway bridge and onto the village of Haigh on Haigh lane. The site is located on the left hand side of the road approximately 200 metres after the village. A member of staff will direct you to the camping or parking area's as required

Q: Tell me about the costs?

The ticket to the game is £50 and can be bought online using the link to the booking system on this website. This ticket covers the whole weekend, the game itself, camping, entrance to the site on Saturday, players party, free co2 refills, free air refills to 3000psi and I'm sure there'll be some raffles and competitions that you'll be entered into as well.

There is an additional charge of £2 for players wishing to fill to 4500psi.

The ticket price does not include paint, food, beer or morning paper brought to you by a monkey butler!

Q: Why do I have to pay extra for 4500psi air refill?

Simple really. In previous years air was only available to 3000psi at this event. As players ourselves, we at Shoreline Paintball appreciate that players want access to 4500psi refills. However, as responsible event organisers who operate under UKPSF best practise guidelines we insist that 4500psi refills must be witnessed by one of our representatives. This all costs money. By making a small nominal charge of £2, players get what they want and safety remains a priority - everyone wins!

Q: How do I pay the £2 charge for 4500psi refills?

When you arrive on the site you will need to register. Security tags can be purchased from the registration office for £2. The tag goes around the neck of your bottle and only bottles with these tags will be allowed access to the 4500psi fill whips. Simple!

Q: What do I do when I arrive?

The first thing you need to do, whatever day you arrive, is register. Simply buying a ticket does not mean you can play at the event - YOU MUST REGISTER before you can play.
Registration will be open from noon on the Saturday until 18:00 and will reopen at 07:00 on the Sunday for ONE HOUR ONLY.

!IMPORTANT!

If you are not registered by 08:00 on game day then you will miss the safety briefing, this briefing is a requirement of our insurance. If you miss the safety briefing YOU WILL NOT PLAY, regardless of whether or not you have purchased a ticket.

Q: Whats the deal with camping?

Camping is free of charge and there is plenty of space. However, there are just a couple of rules that you must observe:

  • Strictly no firing of markers (no dry firing) or use of pyrotechnics in the camping area*
  • Keep the area around your tent clean and tidy and dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided
  • No fires! This includes barbeques unless they can be raised off the ground to such a level that will ensure the grass is not burnt.

*Due to the stupidity of some over the past couple of years who continue to fire their markers and let off pyros, we are on a final warning. The event will not be allowed to take place next year if the same thing happens again. All campers need to take responsibility for those around them ? if you hear someone dry firing, go over and ask them to stop.
If they don't, come and find a member of staff and we'll dig out our spanking paddles and sort em out!!!
Anyone continually caught dry firing or for the first time setting off pyros in the camping area will be ejected from the event - can't make it any clearer than that.

Q: Can I bring my own paint?

Simple answer is yes. However, we would ask players to support the companies who invest time and money in attending these sorts of events and would encourage players to purchase their paint from trade vendors who have made the effort to be there.

Q: So how will the game work?

The two armies will be goodies against baddies (from Staargate and Staar Trek). Each army will be made up of four factions making a total of eight factions. The game will be multilayered with multiple scoring objectives, missions and tasks built into the script. Different factions will have different objectives at different times but will all have the same goal of helping their army defeat the enemy. Thrown into the mix will be some game characters who will have special roles and objectives - but all of this will be made clear in the game booklet which will be released shortly before the event.

Q: How will I know who is on my side?

Every player will be given a free T-shirt that must be worn during the game. The colour of your T-shirt will denote which side you are on. Easy!
However, special characters may not be wearing T-shirts as they may not necessary have allegiance to either side.

Q: Can I keep the t-shirt?

Yep - it's yours!

Q: Can I come dressed as a character myself?

If you are female and look like 7 of 9 - then we positively encourage you to climb into your lycra jump suit!
All players are encouraged to come dressed in whatever outfit they wish. We may even dig out a prize if someone really goes the extra mile.

Q: I heard that there are different event organisers running the game this year? What's that all about?

The Staargate series was run by Steve Bull of Powerplay Wakefield very successfully for the past five years. Steve fancied having a summer off so Shoreline Paintball have now taken over the event.

Q: Who are Shoreline Paintball?

Shoreline Paintball are a paintball events company run by Lee Wickham and Tim Barnett. Shoreline are the organisers behind the very successful Armogeddon series of games now in their fourth year. Shoreline were also the company behind the UK Scenario Team v Everyone Else game earlier this year that set a worldwide marker for the use of pyrotechnics in paintball. The event is in safe hands.

Q: What rules will the game be run under?

A comprehensive game booklet will be released prior to the event which will detail all of the game rules. However, the following will apply:

  • Chrono limit will be 290fps
  • No full auto
  • Ramping to 15.4 only and used responsibly
  • One shot and you are out
  • Dead men don't talk

Q: So what happens on the Saturday?

er - quite a lot actually. Registration will be open all day so you can get the paperwork out of the way as soon as you arrive.
There will be a traders area with companies offering all the latest paintball related gizmo's.
There will also be free tech classes running where you can learn everything you need to know about your marker from a qualified gunsmith.
There will be lasertag games and some informal paintball games taking place.
Food will be available all day Saturday via our on-site caterers and the players party and disco will kick off as the light fades. You'll not be bored!

Q: Snazzy website, who did it?

The website comes curtosy of Chris Renton, the UKPSF Webmaster and possibly better know as the person who started the International Paintball Players Union for the Millenium series back in 06. He also plays tourney ball for The Firm and does the odd walkon at YPC and Powerplay.
You can get more info at his website www.christianrenton.co.uk
